5 Common VoIP Issues and How to Fix Them

VoIP is reliable—but like any technology, it helps to know how to troubleshoot it. Here are five common issues we see and how you can solve them fast:

1. Choppy Audio

Check your internet connection and ensure QoS (Quality of Service) is enabled on your router.

2. One-Way Audio

This usually means a firewall or NAT setting is blocking RTP. Double-check port forwarding or SIP ALG settings.

3. Phones Not Registering

Verify SIP credentials and make sure your network isn’t blocking SIP traffic.

4. Dropped Calls

Check for IP conflicts or bandwidth spikes. You can also try rebooting your modem/router.

5. Can’t Make International Calls

Make sure international dialing is enabled on your account and check your dial pattern format.
